Heading to D.C.

W-WashingtonDCAssuming my Jet Blue flight takes off on time, I should be on the runway at Logan Airport. I have an early morning meeting on Friday in D.C. and was faced with the option of taking a very, very early flight or spending the night in America’s most dysfunctional city. Since I love to sleep and I’m no stranger to dysfunction it was an easy decision to make.

I’ll be staying at the W Washington D.C. I’ve been to this property once before and I wrote about it in my 2010 post, Excuse me, but don’t I know you?  I wonder if I’ll see anyone else famous there on this trip.

Any thoughts or suggestions on where I should grab a bite or place I should go this evening while visiting? I’ll only have a couple of hours because as I mentioned previously – I love to sleep.

  1. Mei Wah for the best Chinese on the east coast. 1200 New Hampshire NW and on the corner of M St NW (sorta in-between Dupont and Georgetown) – when I go back to visit I’ll eat there at least 1-2 times and always place a few orders to take home. My fave is the General’s Tso’s Tofu (you’ve never had tofu like they make it). Prices are very good.

  2. BIG fan of Thai Tanic on 14th. Great food and cheap. Also love Commissary up on P.

  3. I’m there often on business; matter of fact, was there earlier this week. I strongly recommend Rasika Indian, 633 D St., NW — best Indian food in town and cool, lounge vibe; and its not far from the W, so you can turn in early.

  4. cold as heck, likely worse than Boston down here. dress for winter. slow social night as we are all freezing.

  5. I’m here too. It’s cold and a bumpy ride. Staying at the Mandarin.

  6. le Diplomate at 14th & Q NW. Joe’s Stone Crab, Kramer’s Books Cafe (Dupont Circle) anywhere in Adams-Morgan (Ethopian, Moroccan, Indian etc), The Bar at the Mayflower
