Men of Twitter

Each Monday I blog about profiles of men on Twitter who catch my eye and whom I think you may enjoy following. As always, suggestions for profiles to feature are welcome. If you’d like to follow me on twitter, you can find me @BosGuy. You can find me talking about these men on Twitter by searching the #MenOfTwitter.

Keeping with a recent trend of featuring couples I’d like to introduce you to a young couple who live together in southern California.

whattaboutjeff – Jeffrey is in his mid 20s and lives in West Hollywood (what a good gay) with his fiance, Justin, whom is also featured in this post.  Jeffrey is originally from Manhattan but he moved out west four years ago to work as a surgical nurse.  He Tweets often and mostly about his life with his partner, and I’m fairly certain you will find his current shirtless profile picture very distracting.

allaboutjust – A.K.A. Justin is also a 20-something living the good life in sunny southern California.  Originally from South Dakota he moved to L.A. last May to work as an ER nurse (God bless!)  Justin is quite funny. In his Twitter profile he describes himself as “a good vein whisperer”… So less scary now that you know he’s an ER nurse, right? I was thinking he’d watched one too many episodes of True Blood.

Here is an adorable photo of the happy young couple.  When I asked them to tell me something they enjoy doing together they mentioned their love of wine and how they often visit Napa Valley. They are saving money and contemplating a visit to Italy.  I say that’s a must for wine enthusiasts and foodies alike.

Keeping with a recent trend of featuring couples I’d like to introduce you to the masterminds behind @theboysofraannt.

www.raannt.com

@theboysofraannt – This twitter handle is managed by a fun couple who live in Indiana and is mostly used to chat with celebrities and to inform followers of new posts on their blog so I thought I’d turn the tables on these guys by writing a bit about them.  Alex Paredes (@alxprp) is Venezuelan but has lived most of his life in the US, and Peter Monn (@mrpemo) is born and raised in the Midwest.  Together this handsome couple run and manage a popular celebrity website www.raannt.com.

Alex and Peter have been together nearly four years and were married in Las Vegas in August 2011… Aww guys, wish you’d come out to Provincetown to tie the knot!  Consider checking out these guys and following them and their blog via Twitter. I’ve included some extra pictures of this entertaining and interesting couple just to show you they make for good eye candy as well.

In lieu of featuring two separate profiles, this week I’m featuring one Twitter handle that is managed by a rather interesting couple. Check out their story.

FlashPackAt40 – This week I’m featuring a couple, John & Craig, who met 20+ years ago in London.  Over the years they have traveled extensively but at the end of 2011 they decided to sell nearly everything they own and purchased a one-way ticket to Australia to travel and see the world together for the next two years. They refer to their current adventure as “flashpacking” and have created a travel blog to document their experiences which you can check out here, flashpackat40.com.

Three months into their adventure, John depicted on the left has listed New Year’s Eve celebrations in Sydney and their time in Bali as his favorite memories.  Incidentally its John’s birthday today so wish him well.

Craig depicted on the right lists the helicopter ride they took around fox glacier and mount cook as his highlight.  If you are a beer lover, you’ll appreciate Craig’s commitment to sample as many types of beers from around the world on his travels.

Next stop: the Philippines followed by Taiwan, S. Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Nepal and India.

hectorfonseca – You don’t have to be club kid to recognize this handsome Jersey kid with Puerto Rican roots. Hector Fonseca is a successful DJ / producer who has been touring the US and the world.  Even if you are unlikely to find yourself at a club, you probably would like Hector’s music.  Last year he had a series of successful remixes for artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyonce.  Clearly the guy knows what he’s doing. Music lovers and fans can follow Hector who Tweets regularly.

jasaonyantha – Originally from Ottawa, Jason now calls Toronto home where he works as a producer at MTV Canada. This low-key, handsome guy freely admits he probably spends too much time on Twitter and Facebook.  However, he clearly has a great sense of humor too as he’s quite proud of his latest home decorating project, framing all five of Lindsay Lohan’s mugshots as “wall art”.  Want to learn more about Jason? You can follow him on Twitter and check out a website that includes some photos of his friends, jasonyantha.com.

This week’s Men of Twitter has a New York City theme – enjoy.

AndrewRannells - Originally from the cornfields of Nebraska, Andrew  may not be a household name but this talented Broadway actor currently starring in The Book of Mormon, is worth the follow. Aside from his obvious talents he’s quite funny. In a recent Tweet Andrew lamented “American Apparel must be stopped. They are selling COSTUMES as legitimate clothing and making assholes of millions of young women.” Couldn’t agree with you more Andrew.

Sicilian40 – A.K.A. Jim is a native New Yorker. This Twitter addict can rattle off a string of naughty Tweets in a New York minute. Though we’ve yet to meet, we both love Provincetown, and we hope to connect this summer. Aside from his summers in Ptown, musical theater is a passion and escape for Jim. Keep Jim in your thoughts. He’s an only child coming to terms with the fact that his parents are aging and his father has significant health issues.

*Note: not sure why Jim’s link may not connect but you can find Jim on Twitter by typing in his handle. He has a locked profile which may be why some of you may have trouble connecting initially.

If so inclined, leave these guys a nice comment and start following on Twitter.

JustinUtley – Justin is a Utah native who was raised as a Mormon and is out & proud. I first noticed Justin earlier this year after a few bloggers I follow gave him props, DanNationNice to See StevieB and BoyCulture (to name a few). After that I was intrigued and wanted to feature him.  His life story is too interesting to do it much justice in my profile write up but I’d encourage you to follow Justin on Twitter and check him out online by visiting his website justinutley.com.

awilce – Alun (the Welsh spelling of Alan) currently lives in Cardiff, Wales. He recently returned from a year in New Zealand where his family emigrated and is currently making plans to move to London where he hopes to be an Air Traffic Controller.  When this Twitter-fan isn’t Tweeting you might be able to catch him volunteering to teach disabled children how to horse ride. Sweet right? Oh yeah, one more bit of info about this handsome Welshman – his birthday next week (2/27) so wish him happy birthday.

Men of Twitter: Valentine’s day edition

Each Monday I post #MenOfTwitter profiles of men whom I think you may enjoy following. Since Valentine’s Day is this week I wanted to feature couples.

I hope you enjoy this Valentine’s Day / Week edition of Men of Twitter. If you share a Twitter handle or are part of a couple who both use Twitter regularly on separate handles, be sure to leave a comment about yourself and include your Twitter handle(s).

(Jan 2011 Photo by Christopher Polk/Getty Images North America)

Neil Patrick Harris (@ActuallyNPH) and David Burka (@DavidBurtka)      This Hollywood couple first openly admitted they were dating back in the fall of 2007, but they have been together since 2004.  In 2010 the two adopted twins and currently wait for marriage to be legalized in their home state of California.  I could say quite a bit more about these two but I figure the longevity of their relationship in an industry notorious for marriages that last for 72 days (or less) speaks for itself.

Perhaps this next couple lacks the Hollywood buzz the first couple enjoys but Henry (@AkennedyRent) and Aaron (@doschain98) are just as proud to be together.  By sheer coincidence they share the same last name and like their famous counterparts in this week’s Men of Twitter they are are not yet married. Its not legal in their home state of NJ (at least not yet).

landrethneel (formerly BostonMuscle) This handsome guy had to change his profile on Twitter this week so if you like, switch to his new account.

Landy is a native Bostonian who moved to FTL to find his biological mother, and recently had success in locating her.  He says he has plans  to move back home to Boston but my advice would be to wait for winter to end first.  Such a handsome and friendly guy would be a welcome addition back to the Boston gay community.  Before any of that happens though Landy will run his first half-marathon in Miami later on January 29th so wish him well. #BostonHunk

BradleyTraynor – This native of Chicago now calls Minneapolis home and has lived there nearly 20 years.  Bradley is a lot more than just a handsome face (although that is tough to ignore). Don’t believe me? You can check him out online and on the radio waves.  He’s a contributor for Minnesota’s Lavendar Magazine and a regular radio host on myTalk 107.1 FM as well as co-host of Weekend Dirt on Saturday mornings. For those wondering… yes, he’s in a relationship. #HandsomeMidwesterner

TheNickAdams – Yes, Nick is jaw-droppingly gorgeous or as we say here in Boston “gaw-jus”.  Nick Adams is also incredibly talented. He’s currently starring in Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Broadway.  He’s quite active on Twitter and seems to have a warm and friendly personality.  To borrow a line from Gershwin “Who could ask for anything more?” I’m proud to say Nick has a connection to Boston. He resided here while attending The Boston Conservatory of Music to earn his BFA in Musical Theater with a minor in Dance. Wish I had known – I would have attended a few of the school’s performances <sigh>. #TalentedGuy

khemingway – Keeping with the arts theme of this week’s men, I wanted to feature Kyle who lives in Boston and works as the creative services manager for Handel and Haydn Society, a respected orchestra and chorus with the distinction of being the nation’s oldest continuously running performing arts organization. Kyle is also a co-host of Opus Affair, a group of young professionals interested in supporting the fine and performing arts in Boston.  For those living in Boston, the group’s next social is Jan 17th – find out more about Opus Affair on facebook.  #CultchaVultcha

BrodieWest – Brodie lives in Sydney Australia and works for DNA Magazine as their marketing and advertising manager.  Don’t be deceived – behind that million dollar smile is a brain and a person who has something to say.  Brodie’s good body is due to his focus on fitness, which probably started when he played for the Tassie Tigers in Australia’s National Hockey League.  Should you be in Sydney for Mardi Gras, look for this party boy with a heart. #AwesomeAussie

Lukey99 – Luke is originally from Wales but now calls London home.  It is a pity Twitter doesn’t allow you to listen to his Welsh accent when reading his Tweets.  Luke joins a long line of men from the UK who I’ve featured and I think he’ll do them all quite proud.  Aside from his piercing blue eyes and good physique, he has a rather creative bent.  He currently works as a project manager for a very cool design agency in London.  Luke is very friendly and easy to chat with on Twitter so do yourself a favor and check him out. #BlueEyedBloke

Bertomio – I’ll admit it was for purely superficial reasons that have everything to do with Rob’s (BTW that’s his name) appealing profile picture that I started following.  This hunk who hails from The City of Brotherly Love has called Gotham home for the past 5 years. Two of his many passions include music and his black pug, Riley. And although he didn’t say so, he has a great sense of humor.  Check out his profile which no doubt was inspired from a line from  a Julia Roberts film (can you name it?) “I’m just a boy, standing in front of the twitterverse, asking it to love me.” #GAWJUS

DrMwba - Marcelo lives in New Jersey with his partner of 5.5 years.  He joins a list of past Men of Twitter who hail from Brazil, further perpetuating the stereotype that men from this South American country are easy on the eyes.  Originally from Rio de Janeiro,  Marcelo first came to the US to get his PhD in Public Health after finishing Dental school and residency. So he’s smart as well as good looking.  Lucky for us he never returned home and now you are likely to find Marcelo with his partner at their beach house in Rehoboth Beach, DE on weekends so if you visit the area be on the look out for this handsome Carioca and be sure to say “Oi“. #DELICIA

Each day this week I’ve decided I would feature a handful of the men from this past year.  Take a moment to check out these profiles and follow if on Twitter.

KeithStiles –  Keith was featured as a Men of Twitter this past fall. He’s a licensed massage therapist who lived in Boston but now calls NYC home.

Dan_SEAC – Dan lives in the neighborhood and co-owns one of the coolest fitness apparel and sneakers stores in the city. Check it out here.

KissingKamal – Lives in Washington D.C. and writes an excellent blog that focuses on what it is really like to be single, gay and dating.

WickedGayBlog – The author of this blog, David Goulart, is one of the first local bloggers I started following. I’m a huge fan of him and his blog, WickedGayBlog.

OscarRaymundo – Oscar is a freelance writer who lives in SF. I think he’s both sexy and smart. I’ve been following him ever since I featured him in September.

Ogracia – Oscar lives in Barcelona Spain and might be one of the sweetest guys I’ve had the chance to meet on Twitter.

WillFennell – Will is a grooming guru who lives in Sydney.  His good looks are what initially caught my attention. His charm is what has kept it.

Kenneth212 – Kenneth was featured this past summer.  I’ve been a long time fan of his blog Kenneth in the 212 and think you may enjoy it too.

TheMaverickMen – Are one of only a handful of couples I’ve actually featured. Cole (left) and Hunter (right) live here in Boston and are fun to follow.

AndyTowle - Andy was featured early in 2011. I am a long-time admirer of his blog, Towleroad and often see him in the summer in Provincetown.

LargeTony – Tony lives in Tennessee. He is a painter by trade and a writer at his core. His blog West of Mayberry is one of my favorite reads.

MarkGotham – Mark splits his time between NYC, Boston and DC and is a Twitt-aholic.  He’s friendly and easy to chat with on Twitter.
