Last month I wrote about the TWC take over of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals on Friday, February 20th. If you haven’t any plans for Friday, join Sergio and me as we head to Harvard Square to watch this talented male troupe perform, ¡Oops!…Madrid It Again!.
This is the same production that Amy Poehler (Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2015 Woman of the year) and Chris Pratt (Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2015 Man of the year) watched after receiving their awards.
This event will definitely sell out so don’t dawdle and checkout TWC’s website for details about the logistics and purchase your tickets here.
Boston’s LGBT social group, The Welcoming Committee (TWC for short) is launching a year-long initiative called TWC Boston Gives Back to help area nonprofits by hosting events and volunteering activities and their first event is tomorrow, Friday, February 13th.
TWC will takeover Umbria in downtown Boston and 100% of the proceeds raised will be donated to the GLBT Domestic Violence Project and the LGBT Asylum Support Task Force. If you don’t have any plans or are looking for something to do, check out Umbria at 295 Franklin Street in downtown.
The Welcoming Committee is returning to Harvard Square to take over one of America’s oldest theatrical traditions. Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals is celebrating their 167th anniversary this year and just weeks after hosting Amy Poehler and Chris Pratt, Sergio and I will be joining TWC to see the Hasty Pudding Theatricals show, ¡Oops!…Madrid It Again!, on Friday, February 20th.
This event will sell out. If interested visit TWC’s website here.
The Welcoming Committee is encouraging you to embrace the Arts community in all its forms. They are planning a take over of Men of the Strip, a sexy dance show that will be coming to Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.
While these shows tend to be overrun by middle aged suburban housewives and bachelorette parties, TWC has decided to give these dancers (and their fans) something to think about with their boldest takeover to date.
Join the takeover at Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Saturday, Jan 3 at 7 p.m.
Have you seen Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker? Do you love a bargain? Then you are going to love the fact that The Welcoming Committee (TWC) has secured tickets to the Nutcracker on Tuesday, December 9th. They have 100 seats (first and second row – front balcony) that normally sell for ~$150 each. TWC is selling them as part of their “Takeover the Nutcracker” for $68 each.
Tickets only last while seats remain available so quickly chat with friends or surprise your significant other with tickets to the show. I’ve seen the performance, and I can assure you that if you are not yet in the holiday spirit this show will help get you there. The sets and choreography are aaaaaaahhhmazing.
For more details and to purchase tickets link here.
After the show join TWC for drinks at the Avery Bar at the Ritz Carlton. Shame on you if you’ve not already been and you let this opportunity pass you by.
Ten years ago Massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage. And after the US Supreme Court’s landmark rulings in the summer of 2013 a tipping point had been reached; as of right now there are 32 states provide legal recognition and that number seems to be growing by the day.
Author and community organizer, Marc Solomon, who wrote, Winning Marriage: The Inside Story of How Same-Sex Couples Took on the Politicians and Pundits – and Won, has been invited by TWC to have a “Meet the Author”.

Tomorrow, Friday, October 3rd Boston Guerrilla Queer Bar (GQB) will celebrate seven years in Boston. Over time GQB’s popularity expanded beyond a one time a month take over of a straight bar or nightclub into the very popular LGBT social group, The Welcoming Committee (TWC), which is now also active in several other cities around the country.
GQB – 9PM Friday, October 3rd at Tequila Rain
If you’ve never been to a GQB takeover or if it has been awhile, you may want to check out this week’s celebration. You can learn more about GQB’s seven year itch this Friday by liking their event page, here. You can also learn more about other programs from TWC by visiting, thewelcomingcommittee.com.
Congratulations TWC. I wish you many more years here in Boston. You’ve enhanced LGBT life in Boston and made our city more welcoming.
