The Welcoming Committee has snagged Orchestra-level seats (front and center) at comedian Fortune Feimster’s show on Pride Saturday, June 13 at 7pm over at the Wilbur Theatre. You may recognize her from her time on Chelsea Lately, (I miss that show) where she mercilessly mocked herself and others. Following the show, TWC will host an after-party at a nearby bar.
Fortune Feimster – June 13th
Tickets are a steal at just $31 including all fees. Use the link above to get more details about the eventand to get your tickets (while they last).
The Welcoming Committee is now helping the LGBTQ community come together and celebrate the first Friday of each month through their Guerrilla Queer Bar (GQB) in eight cities around the country. For those unfamiliar with GQB, this monthly program from The Welcoming Committee takes over a traditionally “straight” bar, turning it into a LGBTQ space in eight cities including Boston.
This month TWC’s GQB in Boston will take place at (Umbria) Prime located at 295 Franklin Street. All the fun starts at 9PM – don’t show up too fashionably late otherwise you’ll have to wait in line to get inside. GQB will also take place in: Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. You can learn more about where GQB will be meeting in your city by linking here.
One of my favorite LGBT organizations, The Welcoming Committee, is planning a massive takeover of Fenway Park on Thursday, May 21st when the Red Sox play host for a night game with the Texas Rangers.
With more than a thousand bleacher seats reserved, join what could be TWC’s largest takeover in memory. In true form, TWC, will host a pre-game “tailgate” by Who’s on First for those who are interested. More details about the evening’s fun and how to purchase tickets online are available via the link included.
The Welcoming Committee Fenway Park Takeover – May 21st
You may not believe it but summer is just a few months away and The Welcoming Committee (TWC for short) is accepting applications for the summer session of their volunteer Corps. Applications for the May-August summer session, a nationwide volunteer program, will remain open through Sunday, April 5th.
If you are new to town or newly single and looking to make new friends / connections this might be a great opportunity for you to consider.

Last month I wrote about the TWC take over of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals on Friday, February 20th. If you haven’t any plans for Friday, join Sergio and me as we head to Harvard Square to watch this talented male troupe perform, ¡Oops!…Madrid It Again!.
This is the same production that Amy Poehler (Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2015 Woman of the year) and Chris Pratt (Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2015 Man of the year) watched after receiving their awards.
This event will definitely sell out so don’t dawdle and checkout TWC’s website for details about the logistics and purchase your tickets here.
Boston’s LGBT social group, The Welcoming Committee (TWC for short) is launching a year-long initiative called TWC Boston Gives Back to help area nonprofits by hosting events and volunteering activities and their first event is tomorrow, Friday, February 13th.
TWC will takeover Umbria in downtown Boston and 100% of the proceeds raised will be donated to the GLBT Domestic Violence Project and the LGBT Asylum Support Task Force. If you don’t have any plans or are looking for something to do, check out Umbria at 295 Franklin Street in downtown.
The Welcoming Committee is returning to Harvard Square to take over one of America’s oldest theatrical traditions. Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals is celebrating their 167th anniversary this year and just weeks after hosting Amy Poehler and Chris Pratt, Sergio and I will be joining TWC to see the Hasty Pudding Theatricals show, ¡Oops!…Madrid It Again!, on Friday, February 20th.
This event will sell out. If interested visit TWC’s website here.
