My Mom taught me this, but it seems like a few people need to have a refresher course since their Mom’s weren’t as awesome as mine.
I always like this from the nineteenth century Englishman John Henry Newman: “A gentleman never intentionally causes harm to another.”
Wonderful advice, so true that many seem to have forgotten such basics in etiquette and manors.
