50 Years of Fenway Health

Celebrate 50 Years of Fenway Health!

April 28, 2021 at 6PM

While COVID-19 prevents Fenway Health from hosting The Men’s Event or Dinner Party this spring, supporters, patients, and staff on April 28th will gather virtually for a gala to celebrate 50 years of Fenway Health.

Listen in with us to the instructive words of Dr. Anthony S. Fauci M.D. who is uniquely poised to speak to our moment. And enjoy music and performances from Boston transplant Neo Gcabo, Mel Fine, and see another side of your providers with a performance by The FChords.

Check out Men’s Event celebratory photos of past attendees, hosts and special guests like Greg Louganis, Harvey Fierstein, Tony Kushner, Rev. Peter Gomes, Senator Edward Kennedy and many more: Men’s Health Memory Lane.

Register to attend FENWAY 50 (registration is free).

Back in the 1970’s I assisted Sally Dean in setting up the original Haviland site for what later became the Fenway Community Health Center. I went around and picked up cast off furniture and examining tables that were donated by local hospitals. I even delivered a used metal desk to Larry Kessler(later: AIDS Action) after he was hired to use in his basement office with the curling linoleum tiles. Poor people had no access to medical care in those dark days before MassHealth. I was recently turned away by the Fenway Health center when I attempted a dental procedure. The circle is now complete.
