Boston LGBTQ+ library in the works

Axios reported last week that Boston could soon get its first nonprofit library created by and for LGBTQ+ locals. This is great news and one that bucks a national trend where almost every week one can find a story in the news about LGBTQ+ books being banned or libraries (and librarians) coming under fire for hosting LGBTQ+ events.

QT Library aims to create a space for all ages to enjoy books, art, LGBTQ+ culture, and contributions. To date, more than 75 volunteers have joined QT’s core eight-person team to help launch the library and while an exact location for their brick-and-mortar library is still in the making, they hope to find a space that is within the city limits that will open in the summer of 2024.

If you would like to support this initiative, you can join their Kickstarter campaign. They have already exceeded their first-round goal to raise more than $50,000 by July 31, 2023, but they could still use your support.

You can follow their progress and learn more about the organization by visiting their website, QT Library.
