The 45th Carnival Week in Provincetown is officially over today. While the weather was largely uncooperative throughout the week, it didn’t impact our fun. This year’s Carnival theme Land of Toys proved to be a great theme. Perhaps the cleverest take was The Crown & Anchor’s play on the well-known *but now defunct* toy store brand, Toys R Us.
In addition to the Crown’s pronoun tweak, Bryan Rafanelli and friends marched up and down Commerical Street and then in the parade with an interesting take on jack in the box, featuring special counsel Jack Smith and some highly confidential documents.
Below are more photos from the crowds parading up and down Commercial Street before the parade started this past Thursday as well as images from some of the floats.

For those of you wondering why Provincetown Barbie was alone at the Carnival parade, it is because Ken was busy here.
There were many takes on classic toys and games like Operation, Lincoln Logs, and Magic Eight Ball, but I loved the various slinky costumes. Here are two that we saw. Who wore it better in your opinion?
Of course, there were some who preferred more adult toys / themes. Here are a few who posed for us, while they were strutting up and down Commercial Street and before the parade started.

Even the handsome Bulgarian pedicabs fully embraced the theme and were wearing their costumes all night as they pedaled exhausted people to and from bars, restaurants, and their homes / inns.
And of course, after the parade everyone heads to the Boatslip Tea Dance.
Thanks to everyone who participated, all the volunteers and first responders as well as the town of Provincetown for hosting this fun annual tradition. We will see you next year.
2024 Provincetown Carnival theme will be Renaissance x Revolution, August 17-24, 2024. Make your reservations now, and start planning your costumes!
