I wonder how many people actually have a land line these day? I do, but it is for my facsimile machine, which accepts perhaps two or three documents a month now (for those too afraid to learn how to scan…)
Growing up we only needed to dial the last five numbers, as long as the call was local.
Do you remember your exchange? It was the first two letters of your phone number. Mine was Exeter (39).
I still have a working rotatory phone on my desk at home. I found my 7yr old niece trying to use it by hitting the numbers. She was amazed when I showed her how it worked…watching the dial go round and round.

Sure brings back memories! Now I am going to have to poke around on the internet to look for dial phones.
