Pew Research published findings from a poll they conducted to identify the most and least religious states. Their Religious Landscape Study included more than 35,000 U.S. adults, and it found that the percentages who say they believe in God, pray daily and regularly go to church or other religious services have declined modestly in recent years, but among the roughly three-quarters of U.S. adults who do claim a religion, there has been no discernible drop in religious commitment. Indeed, by some conventional measures, religiously affiliated Americans are, on average, even more devout than they were a few years ago.
Mississippi, Alabama and other Southern states are among the most highly religious states in the nation, while New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine in New England are among the least devout, according to some of the key measures used to determine levels of religiosity in the Pew Research Center’s study, which you can read here.
