Summer is still a few months away here in Boston, but it is never too early to start planning your summer get aways to Provincetown. If you’re planning a trip to Provincetown you may want to coincide your visit with one of the many theme weeks this summer. Below are the largest theme weeks and celebrations scheduled for the 2023 summer.
MAY & JUNE THEME WEEKS
Memorial Day Weekend – May 25 – 29, 2023 Sometimes referred to as “Baby Dyke Weekend” and always hosted over Memorial Day Weekend, the theme week also officially signals the start of high season in Ptown. For more information visit Lesbian Nightlife website.
Women of Color Weekend – June 1 – 4, 2023 This is a four-day event that coincides with Pride Weekend and is designed to elevate, strengthen, educate and celebrate LGBTQIA women of color, trans- people of color, non-binary people of color, gender-fluid people of color and their accomplices.
Pride Weekend – June 2 – 4, 2023 This is one of Ptown’s newer theme weekends, starting in 2018 and coincides with Women of Color Weekend celebrations.
Cabaretfest– June 4 – 11, 2023 This year’s theme is “By the sea with Sondheim”.
FROLIC: Men of Color Weekend – June 15 – 19, 2023 This four-day celebration happens over every Juneteenth weekend. The annual celebration is presented by the fun and welcoming social group, Men of Melanin.
Portuguese Festival & Blessing of the Fleet – June 22 – 25, 2023 Provincetown is a Portugeuse fishing village. This annual celebration pays tribute to their Portugeuse heritage with music, dancing, parades, food, games, and the annual parade of boats.
JULY THEME WEEKS
July 4th and Independence Week – July 1 – 8, 2023 Often referred to as circuit-boy week. Ptown fills to capacity so if you’re planning to come make sure you secure a reservation and ferry ticket. The town puts on a fun fireworks show and parade on July 4th. More information available here.
Bear Week – July 8 – 15, 2023 The largest bear event in the world takes place in Ptown each July. Like Independence week, Provincetown fills to capacity; overrun by hairy, leather, and large men. Learn more about this theme week, here.
Girl Splash – July 19 – 23, 2023 This weekend is for the ladies. It includes concerts, comediennes, parties, and dancing. More information available here.
Family Week – July 22 – 29, 2023 This is the largest annual gathering in the world of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer-identified parents and their families. You an find out more details about this week by visiting the sponsors website, Family Equality Council.
AUGUST & SEPTEMBER THEME WEEKS
Carnival: Land of Toys – August 12 – 19, 2023 Provincetown’s Carnival is one of the largest and busiest weeks in Provincetown. This year’s theme is “Land of Toys”. For more information about Carnival visit the theme week’s official webpage, here.
Labor Day Weekend White Party – September 1 – 4, 2023 The annual Labor Day White Party which started in 1986 has grown into one of the largest parties of the summer, and signals the end of the summer season.
