This one stumped me and took me awhile to formulate a guess and in the end I was incorrect. I hope you enjoy this one and will post the answer in the comments section later today.
A man and his son were in a terrible accident, the man died. The son was rushed into emergency surgery. The doctor walked into the room looked down at the boy and said “I can’t operate on this boy, he’s my son”. Who was the doctor?

Now I feel silly lol

I am showing my age, but in the 70’s an entire episode of “All In the Family” ran in which that riddle was introduced, and I couldn’t get it at the time.

I got it…but I think I’ve heard it before.

The doctor was grandpa.

Nope – couldn’t be the son if it was grandpa… was his Mom.

I asked my five year old nephew the other day what he wanted to be when he grew up. He was having a little trouble coming up with something so I suggested a Doctor. “NO” he replied emphatically. “That’s a girls job!”
The times they are a changin’.

I don’t remember where I heard it, but I heard this one recently. Isn’t it fascinating how engraved stereotypes are in our minds?
