For all the men and women who filed into Town Halls across the state of Massachusetts 8 years ago to become one of the first in our nation to marry, I would like to wish you a very happy anniversary. I’m not exactly sure what tradition suggest you buy someone that year, but I’d like to share my thanks and sincere gratitude.
Should you know anyone who was married then and is celebrating their anniversary, please let them know how much I and I’m sure many who read my blog appreciate their bold step. I recall the hate groups that descended into Massachusetts and the terrible things they said. The only positive I take from those memories was how nearly everyone in this State (even those who at the time were opposed to Same Sex Marriage) disavowed their tactics and rose up to let them know they were not welcome in this state.
