BosGuy brain teaser

Each Friday I pose a riddle for those who like that sort of thing. I freely admit that many of these stump me, but perhaps you’ll be able figure out this week’s riddle.

The two dice in each pair are identical.  As usual, the numbers on opposite sides add up to seven.

On each pair, what is the total of the two hidden sides that face each other?

I will publish and confirm the correct answer after lunch hour here on the East Coast.

  2. It’s definitelly 8 for both. I had the same logic as jc. He explained it very well.

  5. A – the facing side is 5 on the far cube, and the near cube is 3 for a total of 8

B – the facing sides are both 4 for a total of 8.

  6. Since the opposite sides on dice always add up to 7, we know the left die in A has to have 2 or 5 on the hidden face facing the other die. But by looking at the orientation of the die it’s next to (particularly the way the 6 is oriented) you can tell it can’t be 2, so therefore A is a 5 facing a 3.

In B, on the left die the facing side is 3 or 4. But we can tell by the way a 2 is oriented on the die in A that it’s 4. (Or you can look at the other die in B and flip it around to get the same thing.) So B is a 4 facing another 4.
