Why do you drink coffee

Boston GuyRecently I’ve seen several studies regarding potential health benefits of coffee; despite all the bad press that caffeine gets.  Just last week I read about studies that claim coffee may lower the risk of heart failure.

Not one of these studies point out the reasons I like to drink coffee; first it definitely helps me wake up in the morning; second it suppresses my appetite in the afternoon; and lastly it keeps me warm when I’m cold which is nearly always.

Do you love coffee? Who cares what all those scientists are saying.  What “benefits” do you derive from that delicious cup of java?

  1. I don’t drink coffee. I’ve never been a fan. I rarely even drink tea or iced tea. And actually since giving up soda 8+ years ago, I barely ever have any caffeine intake at all. It’s worked well for me, though people look at me in disbelief. …I’m assuming that’s why they’re looking at me that way.

I DO like coffee ice cream though.

  2. I switched from tea to coffee in college (waiters and waitresses think a used tea bag is good for a second cup)…..
LOVE the aroma. My parents were big coffee drinkers, so making it the morning reminds me of them, wakes me up, and makes me feel positive about the day.
The health risk (like anything else) is too much coffee.

  3. I am a huge coffee drinker. I really like the taste of coffee. It is warm and comforting. It smells wonderful, it’s good hot or cold. It has no preservatives in it, and you can change the flavor to suit your mood with flavored creamers, or additives that you control. It’s just a very welcoming traditional drink that doesn’t wreak of marketing and advertizing.

  4. Not a coffee drinker. I wish coffee tasted as good as it smells. And I have to put so much in it to drink it the supposed health benefits are lost.

  5. Coffee – ummm! I’ve heard all the good things (health wise) about coffee and still I have to convince people that it’s good for you!

My main reason is that it is comforting – I like to sit with a great cup and just listen to music, read a book and just think!

  6. We have one cafe con leche–made with Cuban coffee–each morning and that’s all I need for the day!
