Clueless – 17th Anniversary

Earlier this week I read July 19th marks the 17th anniversary of the release of the movie Clueless, which stared Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd (among others).  The movie also included a cameo by Boston musician and lead singer of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dicky Barrett.

It could be a sign of how shallow or perhaps how “clueless” I am that I love this movie.  Looking at the cast, I can’t believe Brittany Murphy has passed. She was brilliant as the East Coast transplant just trying to fit in with the cool kids and crushing on Elton.

One of my favorite lines of all time was when the uptight Amber says to the gym instructor, “My plastic surgeon doesn’t want me doing any activity where balls fly at my nose.”  And Cher’s BFF, Amber, says without missing a beat, “Well, there goes your social life.“
