English remains a vibrant language, and proof of that is each year when the Oxford Dictionary adds a long list of new words. These “new” words become “legitimized” (is that a word?).
This year the online dictionary blog for Oxford Dictionary has added ZOMG and Twittersphere.
For those still in school, I’d challenge you to work one of these terms into your next report. For example, if you are studying the French Revolution you might write something like when Mary Antoinette said “Let them eat cake”, the reaction from the people of Paris was something akin to “ZOMG…” I’d refrain from using the phrase “oh no she didn’t” since I’m not sure there is a literal translation in French.
