Trevor Lifeline: (866) 488-7386
In 2010, outraged by so many gay and lesbian youth committing suicide, Dan Savage created the It Gets Better Project. Now the Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth has now launched the Talk To Me campaign.

On March 22, 2011, six months following the launch of the project, the It Gets Better Project book was released. The book , It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living is on-sale wherever books are sold. It includes essays and new material from more than 100 contributors, including celebrities, religious leaders, politicians, parents, educators, youth just out of high school, and many more. Thank you, thank you for posting this. In college, one of my favorite friends dropped out of an ivy league school and we talked about transferring to the same state university. We has a great conversation, promised to see each other over the summer, and didn’t.
Several weeks after school started, my mom called me to tell me my friend has committed suicide. I was overwhlemed with sadness.
I had a feeling something was wrong when we spoke, but did not persue it. If I had said “talk to me”, there might have been a different outcome.
This is the most private regret I have ever put into words. Be a good listener to your friends. I regret that I did not make more of a commitment to listening.
I LOVE that we are different now.
