Similar to the Harlem Shake but more pervasive is twerking. While I understand why so many gay themed blogs regularly post these animated GIFs, I have to admit I’m over it and looking forward to when people talk about twerking in the past tense. Much like the Macarena and other pseudo-dance phases, this can’t end fast enough for me.

I’l admit. I’m a TWERKER. There is an actual culture behind it, started with Bounce Music in NOLA & Baltimore Club Music and then it has roots elsewhere. I just hate that it’s entwined in everything. It’s worse than the word Ratchet

Only the name is new. Women have been doing this move in rap video’s since the 80’s. Remember (how could you forget?) Sir Mix a Lot’s Baby Got Back! which was frim 1992 – OVER 20 years ago! Damn I feel old.
