Boy Scouts are poised to end gay ban

Boy ScoutsLast week the executive committee of the Boy Scouts of America unanimously approved a resolution that would end the organization’s blanket ban on gay adult leaders and let individual Scout units set their own policy. However, units sponsored by churches opposed to the change could maintain the ban if they choose. The policy change will become official policy immediately if ratified by the organization’s 80-member National Executive Board at a meeting on July 27.

More on this here.

  1. That’s nice, but certainly long, long overdue.

  2. Honestly, BosGuy, this is one news item that I refuse to believe until I see hardcore proof about it.

Is this not the first time that the Boy Scouts of America said this was going to take place, and then they went back to their homophobic ways?

  3. I earned Eagle Scout – thank G-d we lived in Brookline as there was no issue holding the ceremony in our synagogue – and this hyper sleuthing of which Scout Master / Assistant (Even Den Parents for your younger years) is or might be gay leads me back to the same stone – they are looking for their own.

    Not children (necessarily) –

Those who complain the loudest are generally those on fire and need to be doused with commonsense.
