Do you remember Christmas cards

Awkward Christmas PhotoI miss all the holiday mail that use to fill my mailbox this time of year.  For many years Sergio and I would send out anywhere from 125 – 200 Christmas the first week of December. And we weren’t the only ones, because by the end of the month our house would be filled with so many cards that there wasn’t a flat surface in our den that didn’t have a dozen or more stacked together on display.

In an age where Facebook messages and status updates rule, there is no time left for buying, writing and mailing cards to those we love; what a shame.

  1. I still send Christmas cards, usually about 125. I actually enjoy the ritual of listening to Christmas music, hand-writing the cards and addresses, sipping eggnog, and knowing the REAL cards will brighten people’s days when they find them in their mailboxes. Everyone has the same number of hours in a day/week. Deciding to send cards is a matter of priority.

  2. I go through this exercise on a small level with my Granny each year. She writes cards and I don’t mail them. Because she has forgotten that she has outlived the recipients.

  3. Yeah I can recall years past where we’d go through a few boxes. Now there’s no need to do so.

  4. We send out only a few Christmas/Hanukkah/holiday cards to family and to those friends who still choose to send us one. This year a few more are going out because we are notifying people of our change of address come January 1. And we send always real cards to grandchildren, great-nephews and -nieces for their birthdays, because there is a check tucked inside.

Yes there is. Sounds like you simply choose not to.
