Cyndi Lauper & Boy George in Boston

Cyndi Lauper and Boy George in BostonIt doesn’t get much gayer than this: Saturday, May 21st Cyndi Lauper and Boy George drop by Boston to perform one show at the Wang Theatre.  Tickets were available at the time that I wrote this post, but this is a show that will likely sell out (and quickly).

  1. Love me some Cyndi.
She sealed the deal with me on 17 July 1999.
She was opening for Cher that Saturday and I was there for a birthday present (I’m July 15th.)
We were at Great Woods for the concert and Cyndi walked on stage to open the concert and sat on the edge of the stage and just spoke from her heart about John-John’s death and the crash.
I wish I could recall everything she said, and looking back wish camera phones were in existence back then.
It was a respectful rememberance of him personally and his entire family.
She sang True Colors and about 2/3 of the way Cher came out, sat next down to her, sang with her the remainder of the song and just made the crowd buzz.

Cher, to her credit, said something like now you can really say you have seen Cher without makeup!

She also called out (from the stage) her at the time musical director to “flip the band to 707.”

She and Cyndi sang “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

Then the rest of the concert went on.

    It was the “Believe” tour.
