The power of love: Etienne Cardiles’ moving eulogy for his husband Xavier Jugele

French cop, Xavier Jugele, was 37 when he was murdered while on duty last week in Paris, after a gunman opened fire on the Champs-Élysées avenue. Xavier’s husband, Etienne Cardiles, gave an amazing eulogy to all of France (and now the world) translated below in the video that has since gone viral.

Perhaps what struck me the most aside from how poised Etienne was through his eulogy was how endearing and sentimental he was talking about Xavier. His repudiation of violence saying he will “suffer without hatred” is so poignant it made me emotional when watching so beware – you’ve been warned – have tissues nearby when you watch this two minute video.
