Vintage gay

Vintage Castro photograph. Despite the old car in the photograph, I’m assuming this dates back to the late 1970s based on the clothes. Does anyone care to guess when this might have been taken?

  1. According to thecastro dot net, The Castro Station Bar at 456 Castro across the street behind them was in operation between 1977 and 1998. No wide leg jeans here…so that puts it after the 70s…probably. When did guys wear Levis with their top button undone? Rugby shirts – like on the other guy – weren’t widely popular until the 1980s on the West Coast… in Seattle, Levis came back around 1982 or so. (Used to work at The Bon – a Dept store then). My guess is actually mid 1980s.

  2. The cars in the background look like late ’60s or very early ’70s

  3. Definitely in the Castro just down the street from the famous Castro Theater. Living in NorCal and close to San Fran, been there many times.
