Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series returns to Boston this June

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will come to Boston next month on Saturday, June 3, 2023. This annual tour first came to Boston in 2011 and this will mark the fifth time the competition has brough some of the world’s best cliff divers to the city. The backdrop of Boston’s skyline and harbor makes for some impressive photos and draws huge crowds to the Seaport each year.

Boston lacks cliffs (we barely even have hills) so Red Bull turns the Institute of Contemporary Art into a 90′ diving platform. If you’ve never been, mark this date on your calendar and check it out. The best views are from Pier 4, but the largest crowds will congregate on Fan Pier.

Below is a video I created after going to the first competition in 2011.

Aquitaine Boston looks to reopen the week of May 15th

The popular South End restaurant, Aquitaine Boston, hopes to reopen in mid May and is targeting the week of May 15th. In early February the restaurant was forced to suddenly close after extreme weather caused significant water damage. Below is a photo from the restaurant’s social media page in mid March, showing the ongoing work to repair the damage done.

I feel for the management team and staff who work at this restaurant and hope that they are able to reopen by mid May. Patio season will have just started the month before and Aquitaine has one of the best in the neighborhood.

I’ll do my best to update you on anything I may learn about their reopening but for more details about Aquitaine Boston, follow their social media pages on Intagram and Facebook.

Dani’s Queer Bar announces opening date

In January, Boston’s LGBTQ Night Life announced they would be opening a bar dedicated to queer women and non-binary LGBTQ+ community. Earlier this month, the former home of the Pour House in Back Bay was identified as the home of Dani’s Queer Bar, but the big question was when would they open? This week Dani’s Queer Bar answered that question sharing that their goal is to be open June 1st (in time for Boston’s Pride Week celebration).

This is HUGE news when you consider according to Wikipedia only 15 lesbian bars remain in all of the United States.

For more information about this new queer venue follow their Instagram account, Dani’s Queer Bar  🏳️‍⚧️.

Wicked Queer invites you to their preview party

Wicked Queer Preview Party is Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Worden Hall 6-9PM (RSVP Here)

Wicked Queer is Boston’s LGBTQ+ Film Festival. The annual celebration will begin at the end of this month but later this week they will be hosting a kick off party that is free to attend.

If you’re an independent movie / queer film enthusiast you should really check out this preview party. In years past, Sergio and I have attended and it’s always a friendly crowd. There is typically information about the festival and some of the films being featured.
