This week’s brain teaser:      

There are four prisoners and they will be freed if one of them correctly guesses the color of the hat on his head. They can’t speak to each other, turn around or take their hat off.

Prisoner number 1 can see number 2 and 3’s hats. Number 2 can see number 3’s hat. Number 3 sees only a wall. Number 4 sees nobody. They know there are 2 black hats and 2 white hats and there are four prisoners. Which prisoner shouts, “I know the color of my hat” and how was the prisoner able to solve the riddle?

This week’s riddle comes from the popular NPR show, Sunday Puzzle. These can be tough so don’t give up, enlist help if you are stumped. The riddle was submitted by Jared Harvey of Santa Cruz, CA. Good luck!

This week’s brain teaser: Think of a common word in six letters. Write it in lowercase. If you hold up a mirror at its side, the reflection will show the same word. What is it?

HINT: The word isn’t quite a palindrome. Think about which lowercase letters may look different when held up to a mirror. Then break it down bit by bit and you’ll get there.

This week’s brain teaser:  Name a well-known, U.S. city in two words (5, 3). Change the first letter of the second word and you will come up with the name of a popular rock group. What is the name of the city and the rock group?

Here are two hints: The U.S. city is in the Midwest and the rock group achieved fame in the 1990s
