BosGuy brain teaser

Each Friday I pose a riddle for those who like that sort of thing. I freely admit that many of these stump me, but perhaps you’ll be able figure out this week’s riddle.

The two dice in each pair are identical.  As usual, the numbers on opposite sides add up to seven.

On each pair, what is the total of the two hidden sides that face each other?

I will publish and confirm the correct answer after lunch hour here on the East Coast.

Boston GuyThis week’s riddle is fairly straightforward, but I found it completely maddening and had to give up. Perhaps you’ll fare better.  Share it with friends or colleagues at work and see if you can figure it out.

I will post the answer in the comment section of this post later this afternoon.  I hope you enjoy this week’s challenge.

If you take the letters ERGRO and put the same three letters in front and following them you will form a common English word.   What are those three letters and what is the word it creates?

Boston GuyEach Friday I post a new riddle.  Some of these are more difficult than  others, but I find all of them entertaining and hope you do too. I will admit that this week I couldn’t figure out the answer and I’m curious which of you may be clever enough to correctly guess.

I will post or affirm correct responses in the comments section in the afternoon.

I can run but not walk.

Wherever I go, thought follows close behind.

What am I?

What gets wetter and wetter the more it dries?

BosGuy brain teaser

BosGuyEach Friday morning I post a riddle or some sort of brain teaser. Due to some last minute business travel, I didn’t get a chance to try and figure out this week’s riddle, but perhaps you will.  As usual, I’ll post or confirm the answer starting in the afternoon, but please do share your thoughts in the comments section.

In a far away land, it was known if you drank poison, the only way to save yourself was to drink a stronger poison to neutralize the weaker poison. The king of this far away land wanted to have the strongest poison possible so he commanded his pharmacist and treasurer to make the strongest poison they could. He gave each a week to concoct their poison then each would drink the other’s poison. The one who survived, he surmised would have made the strongest poison in the land.

The treasurer knew the pharmacist was much more experienced so he made up a plan to survive and ensure the pharmacist would die. On the last day the pharmacist suddenly realized the treasurer would know he had no chance, and after a little thought he realized what the treasurer would do. When the king summoned them to drink the poisons the treasurer died and the pharmacist survived, but the king didn’t get what he wanted.

What exactly happened?

Each Friday morning I post a riddle or some sort of brain teaser. This week’s challenge will require you to use your Left brain, but I’m confident you will be able to get this week’s teasah.

You are provided with a 3 gallon and 5 gallon jug. You need to measure out exactly 7 gallons of water. How would you do that?

I’ll post the answer or validate correct responses later in the day. You can respond by leaving a comment or Tweeting me at @BosGuy.

For the past few weeks I have been including riddles in my Friday post.  This week I thought I would mix things up a bit and ask you to test your observation skills.

I will post the answer to the brain teaser below in the comment section along with a brief explanation.  I hope you enjoy this week’s challenge.

Count the number of times that the letter F appears in this sentence:  Finished files are the result of years of scientific study combined with the experience of years.

Finally, I figured out one of my weekly riddles!  Perhaps you will as well! As usual, I will validate guesses Friday afternoon. Enjoy this week’s brain “teasah“.

A man wanted to get into a members only club but he wasn’t a member so he hid and watched as the bouncer said a number to each member as they approached. If the member responded with the correct number they were let in, but if they responded incorrectly they were turned away.

The guard said 12 to the first guy to approach; the man responded by saying 6 and was let in. The next member who came to the door, the guard said 6 and the member responded 3 and was let in. Believing he had heard enough, he walked up to the guard. The guard said 10 and he responded 5 but was turned away.

Why wasn’t the gentleman let in?  What is the correct response? If you think about it, I’m confident you’ll figure it out!

Here is this week’s brain teaser.  Apparently it is quite well known so you may have heard of this one before.  I struggled with this all week and never figured it out but many of you are far smarter than me and you may figure it out.

I’ll post the answer in the comments section in the afternoon.

There is a man who lives on the top floor of a very tall building. Everyday he gets the elevator down to the ground floor to leave the building to go to work. Upon returning from work though, he can only travel half way up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way unless it’s raining! Why?

BosGuy brain teaser

As usual, this week’s brain teaser stumped me, but I have a feeling many of you will find it painfully obvious and guess the answer quickly. As usual, I’ll confirm answers or post the answer later in the day.

What seven-letter word has hundreds of letters in it?

BosGuy brain teaser

This week’s brain teaser comes in the form of a riddle for the second week in a row.  I struggled to figure out this one just like I did last week.

Perhaps your wits will lead you to the answer more quickly.  As usual, I’ll confirm answers or post the answer later in the day.

I am the beginning of the end, and the end of time and space. I am essential to creation, and I surround every place. What am I?

BosGuy brain teaser

This one stumped me and took me awhile to formulate a guess and in the end I was incorrect. I hope you enjoy this one and will post the answer in the comments section later today.

A man and his son were in a terrible accident, the man died. The son was rushed into emergency surgery. The doctor walked into the room looked down at the boy and said “I can’t operate on this boy, he’s my son”. Who was the doctor?
