2018 LGBTQ spring fund raisers and events
In what has become somewhat of a tradition, each February (or in this case early March) I share a post about Boston’s many LGBTQ fundraisers and events each spring. Considering the changes in American politics, these worthy charities need their friends and allies more than ever.
I’ve compiled a list of LGBTQ events that will take place that you may want to consider attending or supporting. If I’ve overlooked an event / fundraiser, leave a comment in the post, and I’ll do my best to update this list.
25th Anniversary of the Fenway Health Men’s Event
Saturday, March 11, 2017 || Tickets are $275
Boston Marriott Copley Place, 6:00 PM – 1:00 AM
The Men’s Event will bring together more than 1,300 gay and bisexual men, transgender people and allies to this black tie event to help raise money to support Fenway Health. For more information visit mensevent.org.

AIDS Action Taste of the South End
Tuesday, March 20, 2018 || Tickets start at $150
Boston Center for the Arts, 6:00 – 9:00 PM
This is easily the best tasting event of the season and one any foodie should not miss. I also think this is one of the best organized events of its kind in Boston. The fact that proceeds go to the AIDS Action Committee is a bonus. For more information visit tasteofthesouthend.org.
Wicked Queer – Boston’s Annual LGBT Film Festival

Fenway Health Dinner Party

The Victory Program’s Dinnerfest

This is another delicious fundraiser to attend which has a large silent auction to tempt you into giving more to this worthwhile charity that is focused on helping individuals and families who are homeless and may have substance use disorders, often accompanied by chronic health issues like HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and mental illness. What to do this weekend
Spring may not be here yet but there remains plenty to do in and around Boston this weekend if you’re open to checking out new things. For example, this weekend is the annual Harvard LGBTQ Conference 2018 at Harvard and it is free and open to the public.
There are no shortage of parties either including the monthly return of AccousticaElectrica, a very special edition of The Welcoming Committee’s Super Guerrilla Queer Bar, Grunt – Underbear Ed., and The Donkey Show just to name a few.

Men in kilts
For those who know Dirk Caber, it is rare to see him in anything but a kilt at formal events. I’ve yet to see him go topless like this photo, but I wouldn’t put it past him or his partner, Jesse.
What to do this week February 26 – March 4
Lots going on this week around Boston ranging from the weekly trivia, karaoke and RPDR All Stars viewing parties to some more unique monthly programs like the Boston Gay Men’s Book Club, Gay Secrets of the MFA tour, and DADT presents: boibutter brunch at Trophy Room.
I’d also like to highlight that The Boston Globe’s Spotlight Team will be hosting an open meeting at the JFK Library on Tuesday to talk about Race and Racism in Boston following their excellent seven-part series,”Boston. Racism. Image. Reality.” And later this weekend is the annual Harvard LGBTQ Conference 2018 at Harvard and it is free and open to the public!

What to do this weekend
It may be the middle of winter in Boston but there is a lot happening including Snowbound Leather Weekend XI, which takes place in Provincetown this weekend. However, if you plan on staying in town be sure to check out Boston’s Gay Men’s Chorus who will perform There’s No Place Like Home: A Wicked Good Cabaret on Friday and Saturday at Club Cafe. This weekend don’t miss “A Wicked Good Cabaret”
This Friday, Saturday and Sunday The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus will perform “There’s No Place Like Home: A Wicked Good Cabaret” at Club Café. The weekend shows are 100% fun and a tad risqué so if you haven’t made plans yet, hop online and pick up tickets to check out one of their shows.
Shows are Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 5 and 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets start at $30 (before fees) and are available at bgmc.org.
