Provincetown’s 15th Bear Week starts today and runs through Sunday, July 19th. If you are visiting Ptown for Bear Week I would suggest you check out the Provincetown Bears website.
The website shares information about everything you might want to know including parties, entertainment and dining options.
You can view their calendar of events (which is very thorough) here.
Some Bear Week highlights I’d like to point out include:
July 11 & 12 – Lea Delaria with Seth Rudetsky at the piano at the Art House
July 12 – FurBall at The Boatslip

Many companies in the US are closing early for our Independence holiday that is officially on July 4th. For a second year in a row we are staying in Boston (no Ptown).
Sergio’s nephew will arrive later this evening to visit us before he flies back to Brazil. His visit may mean that we need to head toward all that craziness over by the Hatch Shell but I’m hoping we can camp out at a BBQ.
If you celebrate the holiday – enjoy the time away from work and weekend.
You know that a drug needs to be decriminalized when Forbes Magazine writes an article detailing the price of marijuana in every state.
Forbes Magazine compiled data from an online survey and created this humdinger of a map of the fifty states, which they published last week. My home state, Massachusetts is about $20 more than the national average of $324. The cost of buying an ounce of high quality cannabis remains the most affordable in Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Alaska (all cost less than $300 per ounce).

The Beehive is inviting runners and spectators alike to prepare for the Boston Marathon with a special night out on Sunday, April 19th by hosting an “Amy Winehouse Tribute” featuring an all-star house blues band.
In celebration of Winehouse’s memory, Bruce Bears Band and Ingrid Gerdes will bring their expertise of funk-jazz to The Beehive stage from 8:00PM to 12:00AM. Music lovers and fans of Amy Winehouse may want to stop by the bar to grab a drink and take a listen.
Is there an event happening that you would like me to write about on BosGuy.com? Reach out to me. Most of the content that I write about regarding LGBT life in Boston, Provincetown and Ogunquit is a direct result of someone reaching out to me. Since this is essentially my hobby, I rely on people who read this blog to tell me what is going on in the community.
I started my career working at Microsoft so I might be biased, but there is no business leader who I more admire today than Bill Gates. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident at Microsoft when I worked there in the 1990s and what he accomplished there is nothing short of amazing. However, it is what he has done since leaving the helm of Microsoft that has really impressed me and in my opinion puts him on a completely different level than any of his contemporaries.
Bill and Melinda Gates have issued their 15th annual foundation letter. This letter spells out what they see as both pending challenges and advances to making the world a better, safer, and healthier place.
The Gates Foundation annual letter this year predicts that the lives of poor people will improve faster in the next fifteen years than at any other time in history. Pretty amazing and hopeful when you think about it.
If you find this sort of thing interesting, check out their annual letter here.
I can’t count how many people have tipped me off about local news, but recently I had a conversation with someone who described themselves as a loyal reader who was under the impression that I have extensive contacts at City Hall. Although, that might be convenient that is not the case. Most often I learn about new openings (and forthcoming closings) in and around Boston because a reader of this blog sees something or knows something.
What will you do to make the most of your year? I am focusing on my personal fitness and health, career objectives, will travel to new destinations and hopefully make a few new friends along the way. However you spend the year, I want to wish you all the best.
The man candy photo was really just to get your attention so I could share my message. After all these years, I know how to get your attention 😉
Resolutions revisited
With the start of the new year 2015 just hours away many people will make resolutions. According to one US government website the following were the most popular New Year resolutions made by Americans for 2014.
The resolutions have links to US Gov’t sites intended to help people. Assuming that these remain consistent from year to year I thought I would include them. Will you be making any resolutions this year and if so, will any of these make your list for 2015?
For all you shopaholics take a moment and think about where your patronage not only will find you that perfect gift, but also support your local businesses. This includes everyone turning to the web to make purchases. Think twice before visiting sites like Amazon.com and consider calling or ordering gifts from local, small businesses.
