For the past few weeks I have been including riddles in my Friday post. This week I thought I would mix things up a bit and ask you to test your observation skills.

Count the number of times that the letter F appears in this sentence: Finished files are the result of years of scientific study combined with the experience of years.

well, i know the answer was six, but it was a teaser, not a teacher’s edition for getting the answers. 🙂

Most people will guess that there are three “f”. It seems that the brain cannot correctly process the word “OF”. The letter F usually makes the “f” sound, like in “fox”. However, in the word “of”, it makes a “v” sound, and unless you concentrate your brain will likely overlook the word “of” as it scans for the sound of “f”. The correct answer by the way is, six.
