The other side of the rainbow: Most gay zip codes in US

Boston GuyUsing data from the 2010 U.S. Census, Trulia identified neighborhoods with the highest percentage of same-sex households. While nobody disputes that San Francisco and New York City are meccas for the Gay and Lesbian community – especially for the single LGBT community, you may be surprised to see where LGBT couples have a large presence in terms of percentage of the overall population.

For example, 4 of the top 10 zip codes for highest concentration of same-sex female couples are in Massachusetts.  And West Hollywood, while certainly a gay enclave is only the 6th most densely populated.

  1. As a property owner in Provincetown, I know I’m not included in these demographics so I’d like to add an interesting side note. The Provincetown figures from the census just accounts for it’s year round permanent resident households. That only accounts for roughly 30% of the town’s property owners. With that said, I would assume the majority of seasonal (the other 70% second home owners) would fall into the LGBT category. I would then contest it makes Provincetown the “gayest” place on the list, **but only during the good weather months.
