Pressure on Chick-Fil-A ain’t going away

berenstain-bears-chick-fil-aThe Public Relations department for Chick-Fil-A may hope the controversy stirred up by their president, Dan Cathy, will now go away, but I have no intention of letting this issue drop.

And thanks to 80,000 petition signatures urging the publisher of the Berenstains Bears, HarperCollins, to stop providing books in Chick-fil-A Kids’ meals, I’m not alone either.

Last week representatives from CREDO Action, SumofUs.org and Faithful America delivered the signed petition to HarperCollins.  The SumofUs.org founder had this to say why they collected signatures.

By partnering with Chick-fil-A, a company that actively bankrolls hatred and discrimination against the LGBT community, HarperCollins is undermining the lessons of the beloved Bear family. The Berenstains should follow the Muppets’ lead, and cut ties with Chick-fil-A. HarperCollins has a chance here to make a stand for equality and strike a blow against bigotry.

  1. If companies are people and people vote with dollars then the destination of the restaurant’s donations are open for public debate. It very well should be an issue as to where peoples’ hard-earned money goes after the chicken goes down their gullet. This issue has made our little feathered friend the modern martyr as Chick-fil-A laughs all the way to the bank. Watch the poultry be nailed to the cross and pierced by the spear of destiny at the hands of those devious cows on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/08/holy-rollin-poultry-on-cross-chick-fil.html
