Medical marijuana in Massachusetts

In addition to a hotly contested Presidential and US Senate race here in Massachusetts, there is a ballot initiative that looks to legalize medical marijuana. This follows a 2008 ballot initiative victory that decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana.

A yes vote to ballot question no. 3 would change our state’s existing law, eliminating state criminal and civil penalties related to the medical use of marijuana for patients that meet certain criteria.

In 1999, only five states had laws legalizing marijuana for medical use (Alaska, California, Maine, Oregon and Washington State); now there are seventeen.  Six states (Arkansas, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania) currently are debating this issue.  Regardless of where you live, what are your thoughts on decriminalizing marijuana?

  1. Since my mom got sick, she had struggled with her appetite. She refuses to take the RX for medical pot because of all the ridiculous misinformation but yet when she was in pain didn’t and still won’t blink an eye and take oxycotin which is basically synthetic heroin.

So yes, I’m for both medical and the legalization of non-medical marijuana. Tax the shit out of it and no more deficit!
