Flashback Friday

Flashback FridayEarlier this month The Boston Globe shared aerial photographs of South Boston from the 1920s.   This is a photo of the industrial section of South Boston – now called the Seaport District.  Note downtown Boston in the upper left quarter of the photograph.  You can make out Boston’s Custom’s House.

  1. Well, this photo sure brings back some memories. My father had a management job with the New Haven RR, late fifties through early seventies.
His office was right at this side of the Northern Ave bridge by the Fort Point channel.

I shouldn’t say “nepotism”, but hey this meant good summer jobs while in college plus school holidays, good paying jobs too!

Is the South Boston waterfront of today an improvement over what was there fifty years ago? I am not sure.

    Anyone have any thoughts?
