Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.
If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague to see if you can figure it out together.
I’ll confirm answers later in the day so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance.
This weeks riddle:
One Sunday evening a little past five
The man of the house was found not alive.
It was a murder, a knife in his back
Police questioned all about the attack.
Jan had been busy, cooking the dinner
Jill had gone running, just to get thinner.
Jane had gone outside to pick up the mail
Which one of these three would end up in jail?

um guys, the concept of an “alibi” is that someone can confirm you were somewhere else. none of them can do that. Jane’s is just the least likely to be true, assuming she doesn’t normally ignore mail till Sunday. Not enough info.

Well Jane obviously, for being so lazy as to wait until Sunday to see if she had any mail. Probably spent all day sharpening them scissors.

Jane has no alibi because there is no mail on Sunday

I want to say Jan because she is in the kitchen with the knives. But I know it couldn’t be that simple……….

The one without a valid alibi would be Jane, as there is no mail delivery on Sundays!

Presumably Jane, there being no Sunday mail delivery. On the other hand, the mail may have been left over from the previous day …
