Atop the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro is the city’s most famous site, a 125′ statue named “Christ the Redeemer”. While there are several ways to get to the top of this granite mountain, the most popular is to buy tickets and take the electrically powered train. Although I’ve been to the Corcovado a few times already I don’t get tired of the impressive view.

Sorry, you hike up from Parque Lage. Don’t hike up the Botanical Garden; who knows where you’ll end up.

You can hike up Corcovado from the Botanical Garden. The trail starts in back of the old abandoned building on the upper right hand side of the park. You meet the trolley tracks and follow it the rest of the way to the Cristo. If you want to ride the trolley back down, you still have to get a full ticket. It’s kinda cool and has more views.
