Motley has long been one of my favorite shops in the South End but sadly this past week they closed their doors. The owners left a heartfelt message on their Facebook page here.
Although Motley was much more than a t-shirt shop, over the years I posted a number of purchases – Motley always sold some of the best t-shirts anywhere in the city. Here are a few of my favorites.

That sucks. I loved Motley. Funnily enough, I was walking past the empty space where Francesca’s was on Friday and I thought of all the great, small businesses that used to dot the South End and how one-by-one they’ve be dropping out. Posh, Aunt Sadie’s, Motley Home, Garden of Eden, Francesca’s just to name the few that sprung to mind. Now add Motley to that list. Is The Eagle next?

Hmm, I’ve noticed the progression of gray, with the progression of the t-shirts.
