Jordan Lofts in South End

Holland ConstructionJordan Lofts on Harrison Avenue was pitched as a new residential development to the BRA a couple years ago.  Last year the project received board approval to create 18 condominium units and 20 parking spaces. Construction has been underway since the spring.

Unlike other projects in the neighborhood there is virtually no news about Jordan Lofts. Their website still promises a 2012 opening; let’s hope the developer, Holland Construction, pays more attention to detail on the condominiums than they’ve shown their website.

Does anyone know what is happening with Jordan Lofts? When the condominiums are expected to come on the market and their price range? A commercial space appears on the ground floor and any information about that would also be of interest to me.

  3. The Jordan Loft project was previously approved by the BRA and the ZBA for 18-residential units and 1-commercial in 2012 however; the zoning relief was appealed by a neighbor which delayed the start of the project for 1-year. In September of 2013, we abandoned our zoning relief and reapplied for an as-of-right project which includes 12-residential units and 1-commercial. We have been under construction since October 2013 and are scheduled for completion in the early summer of 2015.

The project is presently planned as a rental building but we are considering the possibility of selling condominium units on the fourth and fifth floors. We are currently working with a local day care center on leasing the first floor.

The web site is fully built; thejordanlofts.com and we intend to launch it in early September 2014.

  4. Construction was halted months ago for a spell due to a cease and desist from Leon Electric next door. They had big plans for balconies overhanging his 1 story property thus infringing on his air rights. (and his future plans to build UP i’m sure) Back to the drawing board they went and the big hole(light well) in the middle emerged. Holland does high quality work so I’m sure the finishes will be top drawer…however like the building next door, these are very deep structures to make lofts out of and you end up with windowless rooms and dark spaces. Hopefully they tackled this better than the next door developer.

  5. Jordan lofts is going to come on the market as rentals at first. The developers are still dealing with a few neighborhood issues that prevent them from selling as condos, but that should happen at some time. I can see the scaffolding from my window and can tell that the units are just being framed out now. Great picture of the street scene- looks like a First Friday crowd!
