Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, feel free to get help – share it with a friend or colleague to see if you can figure it out together.
I’ll confirm answers later in the day so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.
This week’s riddle: If you were running a race, and you passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be in now?

Second place of course. And now the one you passed is in third place.

2nd place. You went from 3rd to 2nd but 1st place is still ahead of you.

Overtaking the person in second place puts you in second place, does it not?

“if you were running a race”, the assumption is you are
the organizer and not racing. hence you are not in any place

second place. if you’re passing the person in second you were just in third and moved up one place. unless there were no room between second and first, then you’d be in the lead.
