SCRUFFtistics: Gay Pride Worldwide

ScruffSCRUFF recently released the results of an in-app survey that included more than 70,000 of their users.  The informal survey inquired if they planned on attending any gay pride celebrations in their home city this year.  Although Boston is often criticized about its Pride Week festivities, 60% of those who took the survey indicated they would be attending at least one official Pride event here.

You can see how survey respondents answered in the UK, South America and Asia by visiting SCRUFF’s blog post SCRUFFtistics: Gay Pride Worldwide.

Will you be attending any Boston Pride events this week or if Boston isn’t your home, will you be attending any local Pride events wherever you might live? Curious to hear from you and your reasons for participating or skipping local pride events this year.

  1. I attended my first Pride in 1979 and regularly went for the following 25 or 30 years. For the last several years, I will occasionally watch the parade but skip the festival as I find I dislike the crowds more and more. But, I am fortunate to live in San Francisco where every day is Gay Pride!

I’m proud to say I’ve been attending Boston Pride since 1982. It is part of my heritage.

  3. Alas, no, I shall not be attending any Pride Events this year.

I live in Union City, New Jersey, which is about ten minutes from Midtown Manhattan, NYC.

I went to my very first Gay Pride March in June, 1988, the same month I came out of the closet. I went to my very second one in June, 1989. That was the last time I went.

I was neither assaulted, nor harmed in any way, shape or form. I simply had a major disappointment with someone that I liked, but did not like me in the same way.

I have thought about going back to one, but by the time I find out about the ones I want to attend, they have already taken place.

    Thanks for this post, BosGuy.
