Last Friday The Boston Globe reported that WS Development has offered to buy 12.5 acres in Boston’s emerging Seaport district to build office space, housing and shops on what is currently parking lots. The land grab is one of the priciest ever and also one of the city’s largest developments. Ground breaking is expected to take place in 18 – 24 months, but before then a lot has to happen.
Although architects have not been hired the developer has said they do not want to add anymore ‘boxy glass towers’ and would like to see architects propose more creative – and user-friendly – designs. Time will tell.
