Last November I wrote about a huge mixed use project in Government Center that would add to Boston’s skyline and significantly change the make up of the Government Center / West End neighborhoods in this post.
Last week the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) approved Phase One of this project better known as the “Government Center Garage project”, which would replace the existing parking garage shown below. Phase One consists of two buildings: a residential high rise and a separate commercial tower.
The residential building will be a 486-unit high-rise apartment tower along New Sudbury Street. HYM is expected to break ground later this spring. The commercial tower, also approved, will commence construction upon commitment by a major tenant.
