Providence, Rhode Island is approximately one hour south of Boston by car, commuter rail or Amtrak. Despite its proximity, I’ve never really visited before, but I am hope to change that this year and pay PVD a visit. Below I’ve listed a number of gay clubs. Share your comments about these clubs and feel free to add any I might have overlooked.
The Alley Cat Providence
The Dark Lady
Ego
Mirarbar
Providence Eagle
The Stable
The Village
More information about places to go and things to do in Providence can be found here. Have you ever visited Providence before? What are your thoughts?

I lived in Boston for 15 years and RI for 6 now.
Providence’s gay nightlife has more bars than Boston, but it feels like the same 50 people are out all the time in the various bars/clubs. That can be a good or bad thing.
I’ve always been more of a big city person, so PVD just feels too small where everyone knows each other and once you’ve dated a few people, you pretty much know half the city.
Unfortunately the downtown area can’t get out of it’s own way development wise and is it’s own worst enemy.
The one thing I will say is that Providence’s pride blows Boston out of the water. Boston has had the same tired events for twenty years now and the nighttime parade and infinite block parties make it a much better event. Chris Harris really outdoes himself every year with the Ego block parties.
There are a number of great up and coming neighborhoods that are affordable (Wickendon st area, off Broadway/West End on Federal Hill, Oak Hill area of Pawtucket) and have great outdoor spaces/restaurants/shops.
Just don’t do the commute into Boston from PVD, it’s been a painful number of years and I’m surrendering and moving back to Boston.
