Any guesses on when or where this week’s vintage gay photo may have been taken?
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
Addendum to my earlier post: Heise’s Plumbing is also listed the the 1976 and 1977 Polk’s San Francisco City Directories as being at 548 Castro Street, so my guess this that this photo is at this location, not the one listed in the 1978 directory.

I would take this photo to be at the Heise’s location on 16th Street, between Guerrero and Dolores Sts. – they are listed at this location in the Polk’s 1978 San Francisco City Directory.

From the haircut and clothes, I think mid 70s.

I live north of San Francisco. Cheated and looked up the plumbing franchise on the door.

I cheated and Googled Heise’s Plumbing and Heating, it’s in San Francisco. That pic looks 70s to me

The sign on the shop door reads Heise’s Plumbing & Heating. They are listed as 260 Ocean Avenue, San Francisco, California. Not far from Balboa Park. But this looks like an earlier location. They have been in SF since 1954. My guess is the mid 70s.
