This week’s riddle was first shared earlier this year on the NPR show Sunday Puzzle. Riddles from this show can be tough so don’t get discouraged, these are definitely harder than usual. This week’s riddle: Take this equation: 14 + 116 + 68 = 47. Clearly, this doesn’t work mathematically, but it does work in a non-mathematical way. Please explain.

it was a challenge. my science teacher colleagues have all kinds of things that use the periodic table, so i had sort of an inside track. plus my last name is along those lines
