What to do this weekend
There is a lot happening this weekend, but I’d like to encourage everyone to head down to the Charles River this weekend to cheer on the rowers who will be here all weekend for 54th Head of the Charles Regatta.
Other programs and events happening this week that have caught my eye which you may not know about include: Cirque of the Dead on both Friday and Saturday, 50th Annual South End House Tour on Saturday, HIV Reframed Saturday evening as well as a Midnight showing of MOVIE: The Exorcist (Extended Director’s Cut) at the Coolidge Theater.
Queer Inclusive Climbing Klub (QuICK) Pizza night and climbing club at Brooklyn Boulders in Somerville
Astronomy After Hours (free)is every Friday through October 26th (weather permitting) at the Gilliland Observatory on the roof of the Museum of Science
Cirque of the Dead has two performances on Friday and one on Saturday this weekend at the Oberon in Cambridge
Penny 4 Ya Thoughts? watch your favorite local comedians share their worst dating stories. In between the show, we swipe on Tinder (Grindr, Bumble, etc.) to help a comedian AND an audience member find a match. Hosted by comedian and dating expert Penny Oswin – this Friday from 7:30 – 10PM in Boston
Prom Do-Over gives you a great excuse to wear that ugly prom dress and oversized corsage on Friday starting at 8PM at Once in Somerville
MFA Late Nites is back again this Friday but it sells out so make sure you have tickets before heading over to the MFA in Boston
Casual Fridays is a weekly dance party with no cover featuring DJ Begbick at the Alley Bar in DTX

54th Head of the Charles Regatta is the world’s largest regatta and a wonderful free two day event on Saturday and Sunday worth checking out

HIV Reframed The Boston HIV Research Community Advisory Board honors those we have lost and celebrate those still fighting to end HIV with music, drag performances, visual artwork, and a dynamic panel discussion on “Ending the Epidemic” featuring Dr. Ken Mayer on Saturday starting at 6:30PM
H E R O E S Saturday (New Venue) Retro dance party hosted the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10PM-2AM at Sonia (formerly TT The Bear’s Place) in Central Square
Video Night Tracks every Saturday night join VJ Ryan Grow at Cathedral Station starting at 9:30PM

Save the date for the 10th anniversary of Toys for Joys, which will take place once again at the Revere Hotel on the first Friday of December. More details will follow over the coming weeks.
Tonight: Boston Drag Gauntlets SNATCH GAME
Looking for something to do with friends tonight? Head over to Jacques Cabaret for the latest edition of the Drag Gauntlet as Boston Drag Queens play their version of the SNATCH GAME!
Who will survive the Gauntlet? Who will be the first victim? Find out tonight at the Boston Drag Gauntlet at Jacques Cabaret. Doors open at 7PM and the show starts at 7:30PM – there is a $5 cover.

What to do this weekend
Have you checked out this year’s HUB Week at Government Center; if not stop by before it closes on the 14th. Another festival worthy of a shout out is Boston’s 8th Annual Book Festival in Copley Square on Saturday.
On Friday you can join Guy Social Club who are hosting a Dinner & Movie: Bad Times at the El Royale. If you like to scare yourself, check out the Coolidge Theater’s After Midnite series, which takes place on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 11:59PM with The Exorcist (Director’s Cut) and SCREAM showing respectively.
HUB Week is at Government Center from the 8th – 14th and is worth checking out – this festival brings together thought leaders from the arts, technology and science and transforms City Hall Plaza
Brokelahomo is back for two shows only before the show heads to NYC this fall – if you missed its opening run in Boston or this past summer in Provincetown this is your last chance to see it in New England
