What to do this week: July 16 – 22

Lots happening every night in Boston. I’ve pulled together a list of 40+ events and programs that I think you might find interesting. Please share this with your friends and make plans to go out.

Early in the week Opus Affair hosts their monthly cocktail party at the new South End restaurant, Bootleg Special, in the South End on Monday.   Love! Valour! Compassion! opens in at the Provincetown Theater on Monday and Shakespeare on the Common returns with free performances starting on Wednesday night.

Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival starts Friday and runs through the weekend. On Saturday, Paradise hosts a Summer Block Party which starts at 9PM in Cambridge.

What to do this weekend

This weekend there is plenty happening, but here are a few shout outs: on Friday, if you’re looking for something a little different check out Camp Crystal Lake – Friday the 13th at the Oberon; on Saturday the Mass Bears and Cubs are teaming up with The History Project at this month’s Silver at Peggy’s party in Dorchester; and a couple of drag brunches are taking place  on Sunday,  Brunch of the Queens at Bell and Hand and DRAG Me To Brunch at Carrie Nation Cocktail Club.

If you prefer something a bit more ‘cultural’, it is opening weekend for the pre-Broadway run of Moulin Rouge at the Emerson Colonial; on Friday The Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) broadcasts their summer performance, Tanglewood in the City, on the Boston Common at 8PM.

What to do this week: July 9 -15

Bear week in Provincetown is in full swing this week and for more information I’d like to direct you to my post about Bear Week Parties & Events. But if you are in Boston this week there remains plenty to do including  DRAGATHON: Season 10 which may still have a few tickets available; Mass Bears and Cubs are teaming up with The History Project at this month’s Silver at Peggy’s party on Saturday; and a couple of drag brunches on Sunday are happening –  Brunch of the Queens at Bell and Hand and DRAG Me To Brunch at Carrie Nation Cocktail Club.

Bear Week roars into Ptown starting Saturday, July 7th

Just as Independence Week comes to an end Bear Week 2018 roars to life in Ptown, but if you are staying in Boston there is still plenty to do. If you love pizza, be sure to check out the two-day Boston Pizza Festival in Gov’t Center or catch one of the free outdoor movies playing this weekend, Field of Dreams  and The Lion King.

Of course there are plenty of parties this weekend, but I’d like to give a special shout out to The Alley’s  Bear Week Kick Off Party (no cover), which starts at 2PM on Friday.

What to do this week: July 2 – 8

This week the circuit hits Provincetown with Independence Week, but if you are staying in Boston there is plenty happening here. I’d like to give the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on Wednesday a shout out. This year they have an excellent line up of special guests before the fireworks display and Boston Pizza Festival on Saturday and Sunday is always delicious.

The great weather also means that there are ton of free outdoor movies you can check out this week, including: Hocus PocusArtificial IntelligenceField of Dreams  and The Lion King.

Shower serenade: Blame it on the Bossa Nova

While all of us sing in the shower, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a music video that takes place in one. Much thanks to Matthew Rettenmund for sharing this on his boyculture blog. I figured this would be a nice post to end the work week as many of us  get ready for what looks to be a beautiful summer weekend. For those of you heading to Provincetown for Independence Week have fun.

What to do this weekend

Ptown Independence 2013Independence Week opens in Provincetown with the Independence 2018 Opening Night party on Friday. The weekend forecast calls for plenty of sun so if  you’re not heading to the Cape you may want to consider a day trip to Ogunquit or if you want to stay closer to home, join Sergio and me this Saturday at Kiki Beach.

Saturday night the city will have fireworks over Boston harbor, starting at 9PM to celebrate summer. There are also several outdoor movies playing for free in Boston this weekend, including Saving Private Ryan and Jaws (both playing at Lawn on D) and Grease at Rowes Wharf. Whatever you do, make the most of your time and enjoy the great weather. Hopefully Sergio and I will see you out and about.
