Are you out in your place of work

National Coming Out DayFormer Apprentice reality television personality, Sanjay Sood-Smith, shared an interesting opinion in Attitude Magazine.  Sanjay discusses in his opinion piece why being out at work can transform your life and career (and has for him).

I first came out at work in the late 1990s shortly before I met Sergio and it is hard for me to imagine what my career and life (which at times have been incredibly entwined) would be like if I was unable or fearful of being out at work.

I realize that the ability to feel comfortable being out in your workplace and not having to worry about reprisals or being held back from promotion can depend on where you live and perhaps the kind of work you do, but that isn’t always the case. I know a few people in my office who have made a conscious decision to remain in the closet. Are you out at work? Do you also know people in your place of work who have decided to remain in the closet?

I have teamed up with my friend, Fernando DeOliveira, who is an artist and gallery owner to present an art show that will open during Boston Pride on Thursday, June 2nd. The Boston Pride theme of Solidarity Through Pride served as the inspiration for the artists to create their work and the South End, Alternative Art Space Gallery will showcase these works from local LGBT artists (many of whom have never shown their work before).

Do you make passes at guys who wear glasses?

Blog spotlight: The Boston Gayllennial

The Boston GayllennialI make no secret of the fact that I would like to see more LGBT bloggers in Boston. There are only a few of us (at least that I’m aware of) so I’d like to give a shout out to a newish blog that started earlier this year by an anonymous young man who identifies himself as “The Boston Gayllennial“.

His posts range on a variety of subject matter, providing a somewhat autobiographical account of his life and can be described as personal reflections about growing up as a gay millennial living in Boston. I enjoy reading his blog and added it to my blogroll some time ago.  Check out the blog and say hello to the young man by leaving him a comment in one of his posts.  I can assure you nothing motivates a blogger more than getting comments to a post you wrote.

Read this post if you are taking PrEP

Gilead, HRCI know a lot of gay men who are on Truvada (PrEP) and while the decision to take this daily medication is a personal choice, for those who are on this prescription drug I wanted to bring your attention to the Gilead Co-Pay Coupon Card, which could save you quite a bit of money.

Gilead asks just a few questions to determine your eligibility like are you a current resident of the US or Puerto Rico and provides some interesting benefits like covering up to $3,600 in co-pays per year with no monthly limit for TRUVADA® (emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate).
