Support your local theater and artists

Ministry of Pleasure blog recently referenced one of my favorite musicals of all-time, Avenue Q. It is no longer on Broadway but continues to tour, and although seeing a broadway show is not quite the same as supporting your local theater scene – I still hope it inspires you to purchase tickets to a local play or musical.

  1. Avenue Q is a GREAT play! I saw it when it opened on Broadway years ago. And the song, 'Everybody's A Little Bit Racist' is SO true. Nobody wants to admit it in our overly-politcally correct world, but the truth is, we are ALL a little bit racist – and ethnocentric.I remember when I saw the play, I was working for a closeted gay investment banker who was a republican. There was a line in the play where the actors are talking about something and one of them refers to someone as 'he's gay, and an investment banker…and republican?! What good is that?!"I nearly pee'd in my pantaloons, thinking of the man I worked for. The following week he had a dinner date with a gal pal of his and asked me what the hottest theatre ticket was in town.I told him to go see Avenue Q. (I'm so naughty.)
