I can’t say that I’m enamored with either political party at the moment, but I’ve never been ashamed to identify as a Liberal. This image has been making the rounds on the internet so I thought I’d add my two cents and hop on the bandwagon.
BosGuy on being a Liberal: I believe issues pertaining social justice trump the wallet; I believe that morality is best left to parents and out of our laws; and I believe the rights that Mr. O’Donnell references above are badges of honor that have also gone on to influence the world and make it a better place for everyone.

I think the people who are trumpeting the things like the national parks and the ending of slavery and confusing “conservative” and “liberal” with “Republican” and “Democratic”, as all of those things were liberal ideas. The political parties switched what they fought for in the civil rights era. I am a liberal Democrat now, but if it was 100 years ago I would have been a liberal Republican.

Edit: Conservatives created Yellowstone Park and the National Wildlife Refuge both precursors to the National Park Service which was signed into law by Woodrow Wilson (so Liberals get some credit for completing the idea but none for originating it).

What did Conservatives do that is so offensive to the Democrat Party?
I’ll tell you what they did.
Conservatives provided the blood and treasure that founded this country and made all its other accomplishments, including those by Liberals, possible.
Conservatives freed black people from slavery.
Conservative founded the National Park System to conserve our country’s special places.
Conservatives voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act.
Conservatives voted in favor of the Voting Rights Act.
Conservatives helped to pass the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.
Conservatives believe in conservation of resources.
Conservatives create the majority of jobs in this country that fund Social Security; jobs that are far more responsible for lifting far more people from poverty then Social Security; in fact, Conservatives create the wealth that makes Social Security possible.
Conservatives founded this country’s institutions of higher-learning, hospitals, churches, synagogues, and mosques which have provided more knowledge, care, charity and love to benefit mankind than Medicare could ever dream of providing.
Conservatives fight every day to protect women from being exploited by pornographers and rapists.
Conservatives fight every day to protect children from being sexually exploited by pedophiles.
Conservatives defeated the Soviet Union and fight every day for a strong military to keep us all safe.
Conservatives fight to keep drugs off our streets.
Conservatives fight for the rights of unborn children.
What did Liberals do? Liberals let rapist and pedophiles out of prison. Liberals make it possible for pornographers and pimps to exploit our country’s young women and turn them into drugged-up sluts and whores. Liberals wanted to let the Soviet Union continue to keep hundreds of millions of people in a repressive totalitarian system of government that denied their religious, political and personal rights. Liberals want to legalize hard drugs so that your son or daughter has a greater chance of getting hooked by them and ruining their lives. Liberals want to promote sex among children so that there are plenty of customers for the abortion clinics funded by and support by Liberals.
So when you try to hurl that “Conservative” label at my feet as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, and something to run away from, I will pick it up and wear it as a badge of Honor.

I’m agreed with the points made about being liberal. I rank to the left of Ghandi when it comes to that believe it or not. I want full and equal rights for all, and I want our government taken back from the corporate plutocracy.
I want guarantees of health care for all, of education for all. I want a future where our dependence on oil is seriously curtailed. You cannot tell me that a purely electric car with a minimum range of 300 miles with full recharge time in the minutes range of 15 to 20, and price under $20,000.
