Amazon founder to donate $2.5 million to marriage equality in Washington State

Same Sex marriage advocates have had outspoken supporters in Hollywood with big name actors since the debate started.  More recently  large donations and endorsements for marriage equality have come from successful and much admired business leaders.

Bill Gates (Microsoft founder) and Steve Ballmer (current CEO) revealed they had each donated $100,000 to support the same sex marriage initiative currently being challenged by ballot in Washington State.  Earlier in the year Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs, made news when he made a video for Americans for Marriage Equality.

However earlier this week, Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon.com, and his wife, MacKenzie, made jaws drop when they agreed to donate $2.5 million to help pass a same-sex marriage referendum in Washington State, becoming among the largest financial backers of gay marriage rights in the country.
